Jessica Syposz is a Birmingham-based writer of short stories and poetry. She often layers her work on top of soundscapes drawn from field recordings and the crackle and hum of old analogue tech. Her writing blends horror fiction, Eastern European history, and moments of everyday tenderness, to ask how we can better care for one another in the face of an uncertain future.

Her audio play ‘The Buzzer’ was commissioned by BBC New Creatives and appears on Radio 4 Extra and BBC Sounds. It featured at the 2023 UK International Radio Drama Festival.

Her sound-poem ‘Kasia’ was featured at Festival of Audacity 2019 and she was a member of Hippodrome Young Poets (19/20 cohort).

Jessica is the fiction editor at interdisciplinary online and print magazine, Porridge.
